What is Microneedling Treatment?

Microneedling also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a method that enables controlled stimulation of the skin's self-repair mechanism. The technique involves creating micro-injuries on the skin surface, which triggers new collagen production. Microneedling is used to address several skin concerns, including fine lines, acne scars, minor trauma scars, hypo/hyperpigmentation, and improving the overall appearance of the skin.

To maximize the effectiveness of microneedling, it can be combined with other treatments, such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy or topical gels, creams, and serums, which can further enhance the skin's appearance. By utilizing these additional treatments, the overall results of micro-needling can be significantly improved.

What are Microneedling benefits?

Some of the benefits of micro-needling include reducing fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks. This treatment can be applied to various parts of the body, including the face, neck, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

What is the Microneedling procedure?

During the procedure, your skincare professional will first apply a topical numbing agent to your skin to ensure a comfortable and pain-free treatment. Then, a thin layer of topical gel is applied, and the pen is gently pressed against the skin while moving in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure typically takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

What is the Microneedling recovery and downtime?

After the treatment, you may notice some redness on the treated area, which is normal. The healing time depends on the setting of Microneedling pen used and the number of overlapping passes performed by your skincare professional. On average, patients may experience redness for up to 2-4 days, although some may heal completely in as little as 24 hours.

when will I see Microneedling results?

Visible changes to the skin can be seen over several days and weeks, and results can continue to improve up to 6 months after treatment as collagen production continues.

How many Microneedling treatments are needed?

Some patients may only require a single treatment per year to achieve optimal results, while others may need a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deeper wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.
